How do you commemorate Sept. 11 — without being tacky?

The anniversary of a tragedy — especially the 10th anniversary — is tough to ignore. But, what’s the best way to honor that anniversary, and more importantly, what’s the right way to honor the anniversary. “The New York Times” explored how media outlets covered the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, but PR pros need to consider this question, too. How do we highlight the important work of our organizations without capitalizing on a tragedy? How do we pay tribute to the activities and people who responded without crossing a line? How we answer these questions says a great deal about our ethics and our priorities.
