Em dashes — why writers should use them more sparingly

The em dash is that long dash that indicates you’re interrupting your current thought to add something else. It can be a cool writing tool, but it can also be really overused. Read Noreen Malone’s essay on the em dash and understand a little more about when and why to use them in your writing.
